Om Sri Sai Bhoot Bhavishyadi Bhavaniram varnitaye Namah W8th Babas permission, Nana Sahel Dangale brought a wooden plank about four cubits in length only a span in breadth for Baba to sleep on. Instead of keeping it on the floor, Baba tied it like a swing to the rafters of the Masjid with torn worn out thin old shreds or rags. On the four corners of the plank, Baba placed lighted Panamas. Devotees found it very peculiar. The rags were so worn out that they could hardly bear the weight of the plank. On that one span breadth plank Baba Baba would sleep with four lamps burning around. This was not an ordinary wonder. To reach the plank, there was no ladder or any such instrument. Devotees could not understand as how Baba got up the plank and down from it. Out of curiosity, many devotees would gather in the Masjid to watch the process of mounting and dismounting. Though many people were present, He would be on the plank on the fixed time without even their knowledge. No one understood how it was possible for Baba. In the same manner He dismounted. Ascrowd increased, Baba was jaded and broke the plank and threw it in the dhunee. In this Lela, wooden plank is our mind. Just as the plank four cubits in length, our mind is cast of Varanasi of the purusharthas Dharam Arth Kaam and Moksha.. When desire arise in, it becomes narrow I.e., becomes only span in breadth. If such a mind is offered to God to recline on, He will hang it to divinity Masjidmayi with rags, which are symbolic of dispassionate feelings. He will then light the flames of wisdom in that little mind and recline on it. Doubts may arise, how God could recline on narrow mind and therefore, God destroys the mind and puts an end to it by burning it in the fire of wisdom. A destroyed mind a THOUGHTLESS state. This is nothing but liberation. Through this Lela Baba wonderfully proclaims to us to offer the mid and become liberated. With His Divine Grace, May all our mind become suitable for His Holy Feet to rest on. May His grace shower on us and uplift us. Dear SaiFamily, Though I want to preserve Silence in Dwarkamayi. I am tempted to write something about this Lela. In Sri Sai SatCharitra Chapter XLV When Baba explains the importance of the plank to Dixit he says,Baba if you like that plank so much I can again hang it in the Masjid for Your Divine pleasure. Baba says, I would not like to sleep on the plank while my Mhalspati lies Down on the floor. Dixit says, Baba I will hang another plank for Mhalspati also. Baba says,He who can sleep with his eyes wide open can effect that. How can he sleep on the plank. He has many good qualities in him can do so. When I go to sleep I ask often Mhalspati to sit by my side, place His hand on my Heart and watch the chanting of Name. Therefore, if he finds me sleepy, wake me up . He cant do even this. He himself gets drowsy and begins to nod his head. When I feel his hand heavy as a stone on My heart and cry out, oh Bhakta, he moves and opens his eyes. How can he, who can,t sit and sleep well on the ground and whose Asana posture is not steady and who is slave to sleep, sleep high on a plank. Our GURUDEVA is holding our hands just like he holder the Mhalspatis. SatChitAnanda walked talked and slept with his children so that they can get cleansed. Our SaiMa is ready to spend all His sukrts on us. So lets benefit each moment. He is ready to leave His plank I., simahsan and is eager to help us living in our dark hridya. How can we say THANKS to such a loving SadGuru. We love you Baba. Om Sri Sai Bhoota vasaye Namah A devotee named SambhRe came to Shirdi for Baba,s Darshan. And stayed for a couple of days. He wanted to start early so that he can reach Bombay on the next morning. He asked Baba for permission. Baba said,Why are you in such a hurry You will reach by afternoon. So saying Baba stopped him for sometime. Later on He permitted him to leave and blessed him with Udi. His train was late for 4 hours. Htherefore, he reached Bombay four hours late and it was afternoon. Sadhakas are anxious to reach the goal Atmic state . However, their achievement of the goal depends upon their steadiness on the path. As you know, it is not expected to reach the goal soon when the sadhna is mild. Lord Sai makes it clear to all His devotees and sadhakas through this Lela and comments. You will surely reach the goal once you dwell in the path of sadhna towards God. But dont hurry, you too will reach God by His Grace and with some lapse of time.. As our Gurudeva says Shradha and Saburi.........
