He was invested with the sacred thread at the age of eight. From then onwards he practiced japa of gayatri mantra with great pleasure. He will sit in one position for hours altogether and perform japa and dhayana. He did thus for 21 years.. But, he had no guru. in 1910 he had dream..He had the vision of Lord Naryana. The Lord smiled at him and the dream ended.. After an hour he had another dream in which he was separated from the body and was looking at it. At that time he saw lord Narayana and another person next to the Lord. Lord Narayana showed him that person and said,"Child, He is SaiBaba. He is a resident of Shirdi. He is yours. Surrender to Him." So saying Lord Narayana disappears. The dream ended and within a few minutes he had another dream. In this dream, floating through he air, he reached a village. He asked someone."Where have I come" The man responded,'Shirdi.' He asked him, "Is there a man SaiBaba here' He said,"Yes, come with me, I will take you to him." So saying, he took him to the Masjid where SaiBaba was found sitting. Baba was sitting casually with His Legs stretched. He went and prostrated at Baba's Holy Feet. Baba lifted him up and said," Have you come, My Child You have come for my daarshan, but I have been longing for your darshan, I am your debtor. I was supposed to come for your darshan." Saying thus, aba hugged him affectionately and the dream ended. After some days, he went to Shirdi. At that time as he was in his dream Baba was sitting with his legs stretched. To his utmost surprise Baba resembled the same as he sw him in the dream. There were many people in the Masjid at that time. As Baba moved freely with the crowds, he had a doubt that Baba might be an ordinary man. Baba being omniscient realized and said,"Why take pains and come from such long distance to have darshan of an ordinary person" No one understood these words were meant for him. He realized that Baba was omniscient Lord Narayana and ell at His Holy Feet. He felt that Baba did not hug him as in the dream. He sat in the Masjid worse era hours. In the afternoon everyone disappeared, but he remained there and approach Baba with devotion. Baba then drew him closer and hugged him lovingly. Baba said," Child, you are my Child. When there are crowds I keep my children at a distance." Even oherwise there are chances of getting ruined with Ego. He felt happy and offered shashtang namaskar to Baba. He adored Baba as God and Guru, and was transformed. Madhurdhipate Akhilam Madhuram Meaning O Say the abode of Sweetness, all that belongs to is Sweet too.
